For more than 30 years, Jeff Hunkeler has done one thing exceptionally well: concrete. House slabs, driveways, patios, pool decks, acrylic topping — the everyday surfaces that quietly hold a home together. He founded Jeff's Custom Concrete in 1999, and the business has run on the same principle ever since: do the job the way it should be done, and the reputation takes care of itself.
That reputation now runs all over the area. Jeff’s concrete is underfoot at the Swordfish Grill on the Cortez docks, in driveways across Anna Maria Island, and on slabs and patios throughout Bradenton. When businessman John Banyas — owner of Swordfish Grill, Cortez Kitchen and Killer Bait — had shirts printed that read “Thank God for Jeff,” it wasn’t a gimmick. It was gratitude for work that holds up where the salt air and the Gulf are unforgiving.
Today, Jeff focuses primarily on residential clients — homeowners who want their concrete done properly, by someone who treats their property like his own. He still knows everything there is to know about concrete, so when a larger commercial or industrial project comes his way, he’ll point it toward crews he personally trusts and, when it makes sense, manage that handoff himself. Either way, you get his judgment.
